The poetry of Mahjoor was an amalgamation of love for the land and deep patriotism which went beyond the normal romanticism. His poetic syntaxes were highly simplified to become the folklore of common Kashmiri. His elevated verses baptised him as 'Wordsworth of Kashmir' and the ultimate tribute of 'Shayar e Kashmir'
